July Mariposa Painting

The original painting for the November edition of Mariposa Mail Club. 

This painting is inspired by the hot summer days in which you just want to lay by the pool and enjoy some fresh fruit with chamoy! This painting depicts a cubed mango, some pineapple rounds, a watermelon slice, a strawberry, and a lime with a cantarito style drink dressed with a chamoy rim and citric slices. All on a pool water background.

In this painting I chose to highlight the deliciousness of Fruta con Chamoy! Yummy! We have piña, fresas, mango y sandia! And of course limón that we’ve got to add to everything! 

When I was a kid, I didn't know that yellow lemons were real. I thought they were just on TV. In my household we only used limes and called them limónes. I came to learn that lemons exist when I was older lol. Also in the painting is a Cantarito drink! With the cantarito being just a cup you’ve got to dress it up with a chamoy and Tajín rim! Anything can go inside it, but usually it will be a margarita or paloma style cocktail.
