March Mariposa Painting

The original painting for the March edition of Mariposa Mail Club. 

This painting is inspired by the month of March and its connections to luck! It highlights a four leaf clover, ladybugs, a daffodil flower, and a cup of shrimp cocktail.

There is so much luck in this painting that it’ll last you a lifetime! It has some elements that I believe are correlated with luck! These include four and three leaf clovers and ladybugs. The yellow flower you see is a Daffodil. These beautiful flowers symbolize the month of March in terms of birthdays. They bloom in early spring and bring vibes of joy, new beginnings, and hope. 

The next big part of the painting is a Mexican style shrimp cocktail, cóctel de camarón. A big part of Mexican culture is derived from Catholic traditions and celebrations. Starting from Ash Wednesday all the way through lent, practicing Catholics don’t eat meat on Fridays until just before Easter. My family loves to make different meals during this time and one of our favorites is shrimp cocktail. We make it with chopped onion, tomato, avocado, and cilantro. Add in some cooked small shrimp, lime juice, and tomato juice - Clamato and a bit of Ketchup.
