May Mariposa Painting

The original painting for the May edition of Mariposa Mail Club. 

This painting is inspired by love letters and Mother’s Day. It accents postal icons, a flower bouquet, a gold heart locket with the word Mama engraved inside it, a blooming cactus, and ransom letters spelling the AMOR.

This artwork feels a bit more feminine and loving. I chose to lean into mothers day, flowers, love, and letters. A bouquet of flowers for you and a locket for our moms. Some stamps in hopes to go out traveling soon. A diamond to keep us company. Ransom letters to remind us to love more, and cactus to keep us resilient and strong while still blooming beautifully. 

With these hot summer days approaching, we must remind ourselves that we are here living on a magical earth. Put all the bad things happening that we see on the internet and TikTok aside, and take a deep breath. Feel the sun on your skin, remember that smell right before it rains, listen to the birds chirp and sing, see the gorgeous color the sun paints on the clouds before it kisses us goodnight. 

Everyone of us is taking up space here on our planet. We make a difference everyday, whether it’s for ourselves or someone else, a stranger or an animal. We deserve to be happy and enjoy our time here with anyone we make a connection with.
